Transit Service Coordinator (Paramus, NJ)

Summary:

Bus Company Holdings US LLC (dba Coach USA), a motorcoach transportation company, is looking for a full-time Transit Service Coordinator with 2-3 years of experience. The Transit Service Coordinator is responsible for the strategic oversight of all dispatch and transit hub operations. This position works closely with other departments including Maintenance and Safety, to ensure smooth transit services. This role requires strong leadership and decision-making capabilities to manage the complexities of daily public transit operations. The Transit Service Coordinator reports directly to the General Manager.

 

Essential Functions:

• Optimize transit operations and conditions using integrated management systems
• Monitor vehicle operations
• Monitor station conditions
• Monitor and maintain all on-board and in-station transit integrated management system assets
• Repair any system faults within the agreed performance targets
• Provide liaison services between Contractor operations, the Transit Management Center, and the Statewide Transportation Incident Command Center in Albany NY including accidents, severe weather conditions and other emergencies and their impact to bus service
• Monitor service performance and adjust as necessary to cover operator absences, mechanical issues, or unexpected events
• Collaborate with management personnel to resolve operational challenges and provide guidance on difficult or complex situations
• Ensure that team members are informed of service changes, detours, special event planning and long-term scheduling needs
• Monitor key performance metrics
• Participate in cross-departmental meetings to review operational performance and contribute to the overall efficiency of the transit system
• Review daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track performance, identify trends and make recommendations for improvement
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations and safety standards 

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in logistics or transportation preferred
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Skilled in resolving complex operational issues quickly and efficiently to maintain service reliability
• Ability to take ownership of department performance with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Proficient in using GPS systems and transportation management software
• Experience in public transit, dispatch operations or transportation logistics a plus
