Salary: $85,000 - $95,000

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the driver’s workforce, providing customer service to both the internal and external customers, and is responsible for driver retention, supporting the success of our employees, customers and organizational goals, safety performance, and compliance with governmental regulations and company policies.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote SAFETY AWARENESS and CUSTOMER SERVICE.
  • Assist the dispatch team with assigning, scheduling, dispatching, and notifying operators of assignments and make changes to assignments as needed to ensure the work is covered.
  • Respond to calls, texts or other operator inquiries and provide assistance, direction, and information to ensure the safe and timely route operation.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance regarding the scheduling, operational forecasting, and planning/analysis for the best utilization of assets to maximize safety, customer service, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal DOT and FMCSA Regulations as they relate to passenger transportation. This includes auditing driver logs, checking driver credentials, supporting the random processes, etc. to meet safety standards.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure vehicles are available for dispatch and communicate vehicle needs specific to repairs and servicing.
  • Provide support to operations and safety leadership with quarterly driver meetings and assist with accident investigations.
  • Maintain detailed operational records to support the billing functions to include accounts receivable, accounts payable and collections.
  • Partners with corporate operations in local driver hiring efforts as well as support driver training needs for both new and tenured employees.
  • Achieve on-time performance and KPI metrics to support organizational and contractual requirements.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide recognition and/or feedback when improvement is needed.
 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • FMCSA/DOT compliance of drivers.
  • Conformity with local, state, federal and company safety protocols and policies:
  • Driver credentials and safety checks
  • Speeding, distracted driving, logs, and drug/alcohol
  • Pre-Trip and Post-Trip
  • Reporting accidents/incidents
  • Collaboration with the Safety Manager:
  • Driver Qualification Files
  • Incident/Accident Investigation
  • Training and Retraining
  • Participate and Lead Safety Meetings
  • Proactively identify potential safety hazards and work with Safety and the Area Customer Manager to resolve issues
  • Working with Safety Manager on all things safety related.
  • Supervision of drivers includes:
  • Payroll approval
  • Problem solving
  • Recognition
  • Coaching and Counseling
  • Progressive discipline and corrective actions
  • Random process
  • Operations oversight:
  • KPI’s (safety scores, on-time performance, and organizational goals)
  • Lead daily operations meetings with maintenance on fleet plan, availability, and vehicle maintenance concerns.
  • Communicate and document service disruptions to customers and the operations leadership team.
  • Create driver and route schedules
  • Real-time changes to bus, driver, and/or schedules as needed to meet route metric requirements.
  • Maintain contract, customer, and company metric reports and participate in performance review meetings.

  • Knowledge of DOT Safety rules, Hours of Service (HOS), Federal and State Regulations for facilities and operators.

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask with different, and sometimes conflicting, events happening at the same time.

  • Possess critical thinking skills to understand the cause/effect of decisions and how they impact the operation.
  • Available to work flexible shifts (days, nights, weekends, or holidays) to support operational requirements.
  • Knowledgeable in data entry, internet usage, Coach Manager, email, Microsoft Office, Excel, and web-based routing/GPS programs.
 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Proficient in English (oral and written).
  • 2 years of experience as a project manager or relevant position.
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position requires the employee to occasionally work inside various locations and to travel by car from location to location. The employee must provide their own dependable transportation.
